Charlie Zailer and Simon Waterhouse have finally gotten married, something Charlie thought would never happen. They are on their honeymoon overseas in a gorgeous villa far from police troubles. But crimes are still occurring and some are the strange kind that Simon specializes in.
Connie and Kit Bowskill have been married for years and Connie thought it was a great marriage, except for the fact that they are stuck in a small village where her family lives and feels comfortable poking their noses into every smidgen of Connie's life. The two run a successful business and have a beautiful house they have spent years renovating. But if their marriage is so good, why does Kit have a house in Cambridge as his home address in his GPS in his car?
Kit swears he didn't enter that address so now Connie also suspects him of lying. Is he having an affair? Connie starts to spend entire days traveling to Cambridge and watching outside the address, trying to catch Simon visiting there but never does. Their marriage becomes a series of recriminations. One night, while Connie in online looking at a house tour of the property, which has recently hit the market, she sees a woman's body lying in a pool of blood. Shocked, she runs to get Kit but when he comes and looks at the tour there is nothing there. Has Connie gone mad or is someone dead at the address? The mystery is more than the local policemen can handle and Simon and Charlie end up returning early from their honeymoon to investigate.
This is the sixth book in the Zailer/Waterhouse series. As always, Hannah's imagination takes the reader far further than their own mind would. I was completely at sea and very surprised at the ending. Simon is the strange case specialist and although he isn't really liked at work, everyone realizes that he can solve cases that no one else can. The relationship between Simon and Charlie is still offbeat even with the marriage. This book is recommended for mystery readers.
