GIVEAWAY!!!!! CONNECTED BY NICOLAS CHRISTAKIS AND JAMES FOWLER

Your colleague's husband's sister can make you fat, even if you don't know her. A happy neighbor has more impact on your happiness than a happy spouse. These startling revelations of how much we truly influence one another are revealed in the studies of Drs. Christakis and Fowler, which have repeatedly made front-page news nationwide.

In CONNECTED, the authors explain why emotions are contagious, how health behaviors spread, why the rich get richer, even how we find and choose our partners. Intriguing and entertaining, CONNECTED overturns the notion of the individual and provides a revolutionary paradigm-that social networks influence our ideas, emotions, health, relationships, behavior, politics, and much more. It will change the way we think about every aspect of our lives.

  1. I have a facebook account, but seldom use it. Only half the people I need to update are on it, so I mostly don't bother.

  2. I have both a Facebook and Twitter account. I love Facebook because I've reconnected with a lot of people that I grew up with and went to High School with. Twitter I don't use so much.

I would love a chance to win this book.

  21. I know I probably shouldn't enter because I'm still reading a book I won from you ($20 Per Gallon -- still loving it) but . . . well . . . you always find the most interesting titles to give away.

I used Facebook and Twitter for entirely different purposes. Facebook is really just a way to connect to see what everyone's up to when they aren't emailing and to connect with a few real-life friends. Twitter is almost entirely book talk. I hang out with mostly book bloggers, publicists, publishers, book store owners and other Mississippians on Twitter. I just drop in, though; I don't keep twitter up all the time.

I'm a follower on Google Reader, of course.

  22. This book sounds like a must read for me! I am guilty of letting others that "don't matter" have a strong impact on my self esteem.. why? Grr.. been happening a lot at the school I am working at this year. Same thing is going on with my daughter as well.
As for Facebook.. I use it to keep up with my friends. I can see what they are up to at a glance, no long emails to read and reply to. I also enjoy being able to play games with my kids and family trough it as well.

  23. I only use Twitter for giveaways, but I use Facebook to get in touch with people. I got back in touch with my ex-husband through FB, and we recently had a mini reunion with some old high school friends.

    Please count me in.

Well, I am an internet late bloomer as I am a baby boomer. So social networking sites are very new to me. I still am stubbornly refusing to twitter although my grandchildren twitter like crazy. I do Facebook but that is just about it. I am still stuck in the pre-technology era and slowly am moving into the post-technology mainstream.
